Toran Kuchi Namaste

The word Namaste is an Indian respectful greeting, both as a welcome and saying good-bye. This salutation addresses the inner being, whilst in the western world, the greeting focuses on attention for the outer man. Namaste is not a superficial gesture or a mere word- it is for all people. It is honouring God in the person that we are meeting. Namaste is also a humbling gesture. Namaste is said as a recognition that we are all on equal standings, WE ARE ONE.

Recycled ornate material, most with some form of embroidery or sequins , is hand appliqued onto the black material base of the toran. The toran is trimmed in red and gold brocade and has seven fringed tassles and eight brocade tassles hanging from the base.

Every one of these torans is unique depending on the recycled material used.

Many of the artisans were previously exploited and badly treated in their original workplace. Through your purchase you are helping the artisans regain their dignity and receive a fair wage.
